High atop the Tappan Zee Bridge is a nest box that is home to a pair of peregrine falcons, parents now to three chicks born in April. You can watch the family in real time thanks to a live “Falcon Cam.” Although the existing Tappan Zee is slated to be torn down, the falcon nest, which is a man-made box, will be carefully moved to one of the towers on top of the new crossing, which is being built now. The area where the birds currently call home is safely away from construction activities.
