Voted the 29th best place to live, in 2007, by CNN/Money magazine, River Vale is known as the “Garden Spot” of the Pascack Valley. River Vale is the place where the “Massacre of Baylor’s Dragoons” took place in 1778, on Rivervale Road. It was later transformed into a wayside park and in 1967, a discovery of the skeleton remains of Colonel George Baylor Dragoons was found at that site.
