Tappan Real Estate

Tappan is located in Orangetown, east of Pearl River and West of Sparkill and was the first official Dutch settlement in the area that would become Rockland County. The hamlet is a great destination for the Rockland history buff, as it is home to a number of historical sites, including the George Washington Masonic Historic Site (built in 1700 and the oldest house in Rockland County), The DeWindt House, where George Washington slept and was headquartered at the close of the revolution, the Reformed Church of Tappan, and the Tappan Library.

For family entertainment, be sure to visit the Stage Left Children’s Theater and Tappan Park (complete with ball field and playground). Thompson Gallery, Imaging Arts Photography Gallery, and Tappan Golf make for great art viewing and golfing, respectively. Tappan is also home to many highly rated restaurants, such as The 1776 House (yes, you can dine in “America’s Third Oldest Public House” and prison site of the notorious British spy Major Andre), Stateline Family Restaurant, Il Portico, Village Grille, and Bob’s Thin Crust Pizza.
